This week I held Camp Weber for my little campers Maddie, Reed and Georgia. Maddie and Reed have been a big help with their little cousins but at times the "camp" was a bit chaotic. I decided to catch some of these moments on tape...

These Magic Moments

I have never had a problem with change, in fact I would go so far as to say that I thrive in it. However, apparently when it comes to being a mother I dread it. Just when I think I have mastered something (i.e. bottles, schedules, diaper changes, formula mixing, infant car seat or whatever) something changes and I have to re-learn it all over again.
Just these past few weeks Georgia has been literally changing by the day, one day she learned how to roll over, the next day she could roll across a room. One day we mastered bottle feeding and bedtime routine, the next day we started cereal and decided we hate bed (we as in Georgia, I am actually a BIG fan of my bed). One day we used an infant seat, the next day we used a giant "big girl" seat.
I remember my friend Jenn (she will be impressed that she is getting 2 blog shout outs from me) mentioned that every time her son learned to do something or become more independent she found it sad that he didn't need her as much. I never really understood that until this week. Georgia is very quickly shifting from being a little baby to a little girl. She is learning new things everyday that make her more and more independent. She rarely wants to cuddle anymore, even if I sing her my bestest version of "you are my sunshine" the girl just isn't into it. She just wants to play. Just the other day I was telling someone how much she was changing and I started to cry! If I didn't know any better I would think I was pregnant again (don't worry I am not, I repeat NOT pregnant).
However in the midst of all of these changes and motherly angst this week, we did have one magic moment. When Georgia was sleeping I decided to do the unthinkable (note to reader: every mother highly recommends that you NEVER do this and I would only recommend this in extreme and desperate circumstances) I went into her her room, picked her up out of her crib and carried her over to the couch. She screamed bloody murder for a few minutes but then she was so tired she fell asleep on my chest. From that I got two heavenly hours of cuddling. Thanks Georgie your poor mom needed that!
Just to show my appreciation when Georgia woke up we promptly made a trip to the mall.

Denby the Nanny Doodle

When Georgia came along poor Denby was probably in total shock. Her Kingdom had been taken over by a 23 inch blob that was incredibly noisy. But, my girl Denby got over her jealousy quickly and has taken on the role as the family nanny. Georgia absolutely LOVES her nanny. Unlike most nannies though Denby doesn't really help with much and makes as much of a mess as Georgia but.... oh well every gal needs to feel like she has a place in her home!
Aloha Grammie!
Georgia Meet your Makers

Georgie Girl you have some fabulous parents (If I don't say so myself) here is what you need to know:
Daddy (lovingly referred to as Dad-O) -
Your Dad is 30 years old and runs his own business selling and installing window coverings. Your Dad likes Sudoku, Asian foods, hanging out with friends and family, music and golfing. When I first met your Dad he had a multitude of career ideas but he has settled into his business and has worked very hard to make it grow.
Over the years Trevor has grown and matured into one of the kindest and most generous people I know. He is always there to lend a helping hand whenever asked, he is never to busy to run and get something for us and he is always looking for ways to step in and make life easier for you and I. He values our little family above all else and works very hard to ensure that we have a great life and an even better future. He is always smiling and is always a crowd pleaser. He is wonderful with kids and always has a fun game to play or something interesting to share. Your Dad has confidence in himself and others and believes that we can do anything we want to in time. Your Dad makes you laugh out loud and your favourite place is wrapped in his arms. You are definitely your Daddy's girl!
Mommy - Your mommy works for the Alzheimer Society as the Executive Director. I have been there for just over two years and enjoy the challenge that the job brings. Your mom loves to read, watch movies and to be with family and friends. More about mommy later ...
Where our Story Began-
Your Dad and I met over 10 years ago when I was in my last year of high school. We met at a local bar and quickly realized that we knew a lot of the same people and that we had actually met before. The first night that we met we talked into the early morning and set our next date for the very next day. I remember calling my friend and telling her that I didn't see your Dad and I dating for very long. Little did I know that within a few weeks your Dad and I would spend nearly every day together and very quickly fall in love. While we were dating, our road together was a bit rocky at times but we never waivered from the fact that we genuinely loved one another. In fact, my whole family invited Trevor on a family vacation while we were broken up within a week we were happily back together - thank you Jodie, Paul, Chris, Taren and Mom!
Over the years we realized that the best life for us was one that was spent together. Your Dad asked me to marry him in August 2003 and we married on October 23, 2004. Thanks to the help and support of our family we had the wedding of our dreams.

Welcome to our World Georgia!

After 9 months, 3 very long days and 1 fabulous epidural you were born on February 3, 2008 weighing in at 8 lbs 15 oz. Surrounded by our family we welcomed you into the world with open arms.
From the moment we laid eyes on you, you became our whole world. I instantly became a new person and realized a connection to someone else like I had never before. I will never forget my utter amazement and shock when I first held you and realized you were the best part of us.
Your first few days at home were a whirlwind of guests and family. Grammie stayed the week and was a tremendous help - she could hardly wait to start each day and see your pretty face. We had regular visits from Grannie and Grandpa, all of your Aunts and Uncles and friends. We also went to visit your great grandparents - what a lucky gal to have so many grand grandparents to love you.
I am grateful for you everyday, you are truly the greatest gift and blessing in our lives.

Martha Stewart has Taken Over My Body
This will be very hard for many of you to believe, but I have truly found my inner Martha. Now stop laughing, it is true. I am truly a new version of Martha without the criminal record.
Since being on maternity leave one of the only ways I could find to keep myself out of the malls was to learn how to cook and spend my afternoons creating new dishes for Trevor to try (which by the way makes for one VERY happy husband, so happy in fact that he doesnt mind my trips to the mall!). Despite a few failed attempts, I have been able to teach myself a variety of recipes that leave a happy face on my guests. I have come a long way since my sugar cookies and 14 hour salad making adventures!
Just the other day I found myself circling around the sewing machine in the basement thinking that might be the next part in my Martha Stewart makeover. Martha watch out - you have some new competition!
